How this data is sourced

When we cannot verify a value we publish — and list the field as unverified on the product page. There are 1035 such fields right now. A database that invents plausible numbers is worse than no database, because you cannot tell which half to trust.

1543 source records across 101 products, each with a URL, a type and the date we checked it. The full list sits at the bottom of every product page, not in a footnote.

30 products carry a field where two sources state different values. We publish the one we trust and keep the other beside it with a note. Manufacturers restate old figures across model generations more often than you would expect.

Weights are stored in grams and lengths in millimetres. Imperial figures are converted, and the conversion is recorded on the source. That way a tool specified in ounces and one specified in grams are genuinely comparable.

81 tool types in a single taxonomy with specialisations rolling up into their parents, so a search for pliers finds a tool that only ever says "needlenose". The manufacturer's own wording is kept alongside, verbatim.

MSRP is treated like any other sourced field, and cost per tool is derived from it. It does not affect how products are ranked or described.
