The dataset
Everything on this site is available as data: the same verified records, the same sources, in JSON and CSV. Free for research and personal projects with credit, and any figure may be quoted with a link to its page.
Downloads
- multitools.json
- Every record with every field and, per field, the sources behind it: URL, source type, the date it was checked, and any value a source states that differs from the accepted one.
- multitools.csv
- One row per record for spreadsheets. No sources; use the JSON when you need them. Lists are separated by semicolons.
- llms.txt
- A map of the site for language models, with short answers to common questions and a link to every product.
- Per product
- Each product page has a Markdown version at the same address with .md in place of the trailing slash, for example /leatherman/wave-plus.md.
Licence and credit
Quoting a figure, in an article, a forum post or an AI-generated answer, is always fine with a link to the page it came from. The dataset as a whole is licensed CC BY-NC 4.0: you may copy and adapt it for non-commercial use if you credit MultiToolDB and link to the product page or to this page, for example “Specifications: MultiToolDB”.
Commercial reuse, such as a product, an app, a shop or a site with ads or affiliate links built on the data, needs a separate licence. Write to contact@strtly.com. Product photos are not part of the dataset.
Reading the data
A null is a value no source confirmed. It is not zero and it does not mean the tool lacks the feature. Field paths that could not be verified are also listed in each record’s unverified array.
Weights are grams and lengths millimetres. Where a manufacturer prints imperial figures, the conversion is recorded in the source note.
toolCount is what the manufacturer states, and brands count differently. The tools array uses one shared vocabulary so tools compare across brands, and a second list keeps the manufacturer’s own wording and order.
msrpUsd is the manufacturer’s US list price on the date in its source. Street prices differ.
A model the manufacturer dropped keeps its record with status discontinued, so older tools can still be looked up.
